  is anything holy?.

  i would maintain that holiness can only come from the attitude of people ascribing something as holy.

  holiness never comes from the "holy" object, spirit or humans described as being holy..

  I don’t know about yours Cappy but my underwear and socks are indeed holy but since no one else sees much of them they tend not to receive enough worship.

  Isn’t holiness the governing principle at the foundation of the whole Watchtower and religious delusion? To be a believer you need to succumb to the irrational notion that you are subject to the power of something holy?

  What is it which says something is holy? It’s the cult managers who decide what is good and bad karma. The ones who claim the Bible is holy and that they are the only interpreters of it...just like all the mullahs and rabbis, priests and cultists.

  Holiness surely comes from human social beliefs only; what god ever spoke? What animal ever worshipped?

  @conceptual, then I’m heartened to hear it. Lots of negative media exposure of the wretched organisation is what is required.

  The ideal is when the publicity is so bad and universal that nobody would want to identify with the JW org for fear of looking like an idiot.

  I just want to add that the reason for the WTBTS acting the way they do over child sex abuse is twofold. 1, they are delusional about their role "appointed by God" which empowers them to be autocratic and 2, they use a reference from the Bible (two witnesses) to justify their actions.

  The law of the land and the press are now exposing their stupidity in both areas; their right to feel they are above the law and the crassness of using a book of fairy tales as a guide to life.

  Most of thinking, feeling humanity have moved on from this primitive position... but not the Borg.

  I loved their former, rather avuncular pie-in-the-sky vision that the tiny remnant of the anointed would usher in the great crowd of lesser mortals through the trauma of Armageddon into the ‘cleansed earth’. This smells of Freddie Franz’s blissful idealism. The concept of being anointed, apart from their self appointment to heaven, has become an accusation and challenge to their role as divine appointees. The heavenly hope is now reduced to nothing more than a pain in their butt.

  The passage of time shows every teaching of the Watchtower org to be a meaningless fantasy.

  They have lamely played their usual delaying tactics but disregarded the human care of the victims within their own ranks. They deserve to be exposed for the heartless narcissists that they are.

  Surely the Watchtower is the worlds most uncharitable charity?

  As I understand, they sent a letter a month or two back to the congs in South London at least, saying that in future all new KH developments will not be tax exempt... Perhaps they had anticipated losing this case and to keep the Charity Commission from nosing into their affairs they would rather forgo the tax benefits, which has already been mentioned by 88JM and will probably only affect the small gift aid donations boost.

  Nevertheless any legal pressure to reduce the effectiveness of this disreputable organisation is a nail in their coffin.

  a word to jehovahs witnesses: what is the basis for the authority the seven members of the governing body can claim in controlling the lives of eight million followers?

  the organisation they represent has never got one useful piece of information correct in one hundred and thirty five years... so why should they be believed?.

  It seems we are unanimous that the GB has NO AUTHORITY to demand anything of their members.

  There is no evidence whatsoever that God has singled them out for special attention or given them “charge over all his belongings” (as if God exists at all).

  So the recommendation is that all JWs pack your bags and stop going to the meetings and listening to or reading the UNAUTHORISED garbage which they spew out. If God were backing the WTBTS he would make sure their predictions were fulfilled without the perpetual and farcical “new light” adjustments. They have never got ANYTHING right and never will. They are a danger to family life and the innocent children who have the misfortune to be brought up in their ranks. They stifle the human spirit and only hold out the alluring hope of life in paradise which is neither theirs to offer nor will ever come true.

  All in all; the JW org is a disaster.

  i was in edinburgh today with my wife (football, coffee, walks, food, cinema) and i always try to take 10 minutes to have a chat with the jws on the trolley in the "big city".. i challenged an older guy who turned out to be an pioneer about the generation.

  Just had a further thought: 2034 gives about enough time for the present bunch of deluded narcissists at Watchtower HQ to live out their lives basking in the adulation, comfort and wealth as enjoyed by all US ‘televangelists’.

  After the "Great disappointment of 2034" to have to sustain the cult beyond that date will then be the poisoned chalice which the next generation of GB members will inherit. It's like a game for each generation played by the incumbents to see how well they can carry it off and still remain in power.
